We had such a wonderful stay, from the scones to the scrabble we enjoyed every minute! The space is superbly clean, tastefully furnished and thoughtfully equipped. The location is beautifully peaceful and to wake to the sound of gentle birdsong was lovely! We went for some great walks in the Quantocks and the coast and even though we brought our own local guidebooks, there is a plethora already at the lodge to plan your trips out locally. We took evening walks to the local pubs which, along dark country roads, was wonderfully moonlit and starry, definitely made the walk to the Bicknoller Inn worth it - and were so well fed that we were super thankful for the walk back! We couldn’t fault our stay, Fi was incredibly warm and welcoming and it’s certainly a relaxing and peaceful retreat. Thanks again!

This cottage is heaven itself! We travelled to the little cottage for a New Years away, and had an absolutely beautiful few days in it. From the homemade scones on arrival, through to the beautiful little garden and amazingly comfortable bed. Overall our stay was as cosy and relaxing as we had hoped! Lived up to all expectations, and above!

A wonderful escape to an idylic place! We were made very welcome by Tom and Fi - lovely, genuine people, very relaxed, very helpful but totally unobtrusive. The cream tea (now stuff of legends!) was fab and we had everything we needed in this romantic little cottage. Lovely walks right from the door too with torches for a moonlit walk to the pub! Highly recommended.

Welcome to Little Orchard Cottage

Little Orchard Cottage in the quiet hamlet of Vellow is in a converted 17th century, detached stone building offering self-catering accommodation in a stunning location. Vellow is a tiny hamlet composed of period, local stone and thatched cottages, conveniently situated at the base of the Quantock Hills and Exmoor on the edge of the village of Stogumber, amongst some of the most beautiful scenery in the West Country.

With beautiful furnishings, original oil paintings and a private, cobbled courtyard garden, Little Orchard Cottage boasts endless charm. Immediate access to the Quantocks and Exmoor makes it a dream location for walkers or simply a quiet getaway – all within walking distance to a great village pub.

Our stay was at Little Orchard Cottage was fantastic! Fiona and Tom are so warm and welcoming and were more than happy to advise on the local area. On our arrival we were welcomed with delicious cream teas still warm from the oven. The cottage has a lovely interior with serene beach paintings. It’s very cosy and comfortable and had everything we needed. Their welcome book is great and gives lots of information on the local area. The cottage also had maps available and very kindly Tom gave us great 10 mile route to do (with a pub stop off)! It honestly felt like we were staying with friends who wanted to make sure we had the best time while staying with them. We also were lucky enough to meet the famous tame Robin who for a moment or two perched on my hand. There was so much to see and do and the Quantock Hills and the surrounding areas, it’s without doubt one of the most beautiful areas I’ve visited in the UK. We definitely plan to visit again and we will absolutely want to stay at Little Orchard Cottage!
